What is Gold Vault Roulette?

Gold Vault Roulette is set in a studio designed to look like a bullion vault in a bank.

Everywhere you look is Gold. Evolution originally built this ornate studio for Gold Bar Roulette, so it’s no wonder they have repurposed it since closing the game.

The Auto roulette wheel sits front and centre in the studio, balanced perfectly on a fluted gold plinth.

Behind the wheel is an open vault door containing gold bars stacked neatly in racks.

To the player’s left are four lockers containing up to twenty gold bars, which are used to populate the betting grid with multipliers. The gold bars have a value of 50x, except the Super Gold Bar, valued at 500x.

Your challenge is to bet and win on straight-up numbers, hoping they get gold bar multipliers to increase their payouts.

All other Roulette bets are valid and get paid at the standard rate.

How To Play Gold Vault Roulette

Gold Vault Roulette is played like any regular game of roulette.

You can place chips on Numbers, Colours, sections of the wheel, and an array of combinations where your chips cover two or more numbers.

The Gold Bar Multipliers are added after betting has closed, where up to 20 Gold bars of a value of 50x each are placed on straight-up numbers on the betting grid. Some can be staked three high, increasing the standard payout of 24:1 to 150:1. Occasionally, a Super Gold Bar worth 500x is assigned to one of the numbers.

Only Straight-up bets qualify for the Gold Bar multiplier payouts, and all other bets pay at the standard rate for Europen Roulette.

Make your bets by placing them directly on the betting grid or using the Racetrack to place section and neighbour bets.

Once betting time has closed, the dealer turns towards the four lockers where the gold bars are held.

The RNG engine selects the number of Gold Bars before arranging them on the numbers on the betting grid.

UP to three gold bars can be stacked on one number, while only one Super Gold Bar can be assigned each game round.

The Super Gold bar cannot be added to a number that already contains a gold bar or vice versa.

The ball is introduced into the Auto roulette wheel using compressed air and makes at least three revolutions of the wheel to be a valid spin.

As the wheel slows, the ball bounces around before dropping into one of the numbered pockets. The result is displayed on the screen, and a close-up view of the wheel is displayed for all.

Strategies and Tactics for Playing and Winning on Gold Vault Roulette

This game is all about the Straight-Up bets and the Glod Bar Multipliers, so I will stick to just Straight-up bets and the best ways to play to get a win with a multiplier.

However, I must point out that what I’m about to explain won’t guarantee a win, won’t guarantee you’ll get a number with a multiplier, and won’t guarantee a profit. What it will do, is give you the best chance to get one or all three.

How the Multipliers are decided and allocated

I want to cover how the game allocates the gold bar multipliers and where they appear on the betting grid.

As we know, the payout for Straight-up numbers has been reduced from 36:1 to 24:1. This difference gives the game manufacturer a pool of RTP that he can redistribute during the game by boosting some payout with multipliers. This distribution is controlled through an automated process called a Random Number Generator (RNG), which randomly decides how many gold bars there will be, which numbers will receive them and what the values will be on each of the selected numbers. The RNG is configured to deliver a Return to Player of 97.10% while doing this, which is why you see fluctuations in the numbers of gold bars and the numbers chosen on the betting grid each new game round. It’s random, but the RNG is configured to act a certain way.

Betting Strategy – Cover all straight-up numbers.

This is rather obvious; you cover every number with a betting chip. That means you’ll have bet 37 units and will get back 24 units – that’s guaranteed for a loss of 13 units each game round. This is only a strategy to follow if the winning number also has a multiplier attached to it. One 50x multiplier will leave you in profit by 13 units. It’s a big bet for little potential profit unless the winning number exceeds 50x. This high-risk strategy will give wins but needs multipliers to make it worthwhile. My Verdict – don’t use this for more than a few rounds!

Cover Sections of the wheel.

I prefer this as a strategy for Gold Vault Roulette because you’re not putting all your eggs in one basket. You’re accepting that you’ll have some losses, which you can mitigate by placing other bets alongside the straight-up bets.

You can cover the sections of the wheel, and I’d recommend at least a third of the wheel using the Sections bets, Columns, or Dozens. You’ll need to convert these bets into straight-up bets for each number to ensure you benefit from the multipliers.

You’ll have a 33% chance of getting a winning number. Your outlay will be 12 units for a possible return of 24 units – a profit of 12 units, but you only have a 33% chance of that happening. The odds don’t look great. Again, you have to hope you get a multiplier in the payout. If you don’t, you’ll run out of money very quickly.

I’d advise placing some even money bets to offset the losses. Again, these are 50-50 bets, so you have a better chance of winning, but equally, you can lose just as quickly – so take care.

This lower-risk strategy keeps you in the game, and hopefully, you’ll get the odd multiplier to win.

The Lowest Risk Strategy

I include this because not everyone is fixated on Multipliers, and it’s not the main reason they play Gold Vault Roulette. You may play because you like the studio or how the presenters run the game. You might not want to chase the multipliers, but instead, play managing your bets in the hope of more frequent wins and getting the odd straight-up number win. A multiplier win would be a pleasant bonus!

For this, I’d play just Outside Bets, and I may combine them, So Red/Black and Odd/Even spring to mind. I may even place a few low-value Straight-up bets using favourite numbers and leave it at that.

Summary

I’m a little disappointed with Gold Vault Roulette, as once you get past the fancy studio, it’s just another flavour of Lightning Roulette.

I understand why Evolution closed Gold Bar Roulette. It was a great idea that didn’t resonate with players, but this isn’t a suitable replacement.

I wonder whether existing Lightning Roulette players will migrate to this game or stick to the original. Being slightly less volatile will have its appeal to some, but a watered-down version doesn’t feel right.

I was wrong about Lightning Roulette when it came out – I didn’t like it – how wrong was I? as it’s now Evolution’s most successful game. So I may be off the mark with this one!

The studio is undoubtedly better than the game. I guess time will tell if I’m right!
